Continuing up the valley of the river Corno, dominated by the inaccessible slopes of Monte Maggio, you get to Cascia, ancient hillside castle built on the side of a mountain ridge. Among the harmonious profile of the churches and the red roofs of the houses, on the right suddenly stands out clearly and the imposing bulk of the Basilica of Santa Rita, the great monument in travertine that reflects the glory and fame of Santa Rita, Precious Pearl of Umbria , one of the most venerated and invoked figures of Catholic holiness.
